SwimPal Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 28, 2026

SwimPal is developed and provided by SwimPal ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the native SwimPal application (the "App") or contact us for support.

For privacy questions or requests, email xyhj000@gmail.com.

1. How SwimPal handles information

SwimPal helps you understand swimming workouts stored in Apple Health. The current App processes workout information on your device and does not send your Health data, local profile, selected profile image, onboarding answers, or generated reports to a server operated by us.

Your personal profile is saved locally using SwiftData. We do not keep a server copy of that profile or your other local app data. When you delete the App using iOS Delete App, the data in that installation is permanently removed, and we cannot restore it for you. Apple Health records and independently managed backups are separate, as explained in Sections 6 and 8.

You do not need to register for a SwimPal account. The "Account" screen is a local profile and settings screen. The App does not include advertising, third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, cross-app tracking, or an external AI service. Reports, comparisons, and baselines are calculated on your device.

Local processing still involves personal information. System backups, Apple services, external pages you open, and emails you choose to send are separate from the App's local processing, as described below.

2. Information accessed or stored by the App

InformationSource and purposeHandling in the current App
Swimming workout recordsApple Health, with your permission. Used to display workout history, activity summaries, trends, monthly insights, and weekly reports. Includes workout identifiers, dates, times, duration, distance, and available workout metadata.Read and processed on your device. Selected derived values are retained in local weekly reports.
Swimming stroke counts, heart rate, and active energyApple Health, with your permission. Used for stroke metrics, heart rate charts and averages, active energy summaries, and workout analysis.Read and processed on your device. Not transmitted to us by the App.
Swimming metadataAvailable Health workout metadata, such as pool or open water classification, pool length, lap and pause events, stroke styles, and SWOLF values. Used to interpret and summarize workouts.Processed on your device. Pool or open water classification is not a GPS location or route.
Calculated fitness informationDerived locally from authorized workouts, such as pace, stroke rate, distance per stroke, baselines, records, progress, stroke distribution, and period comparisons.Calculated on your device; weekly summary snapshots are saved locally.
Personal profileA nickname, age, gender selection, and an optional profile image that you choose to save. Used to display your personal profile. Default values are provided if you do not edit it.Stored locally on your device using SwiftData. We do not upload or retain a server copy of the profile. The App does not synchronize this database through CloudKit or publish a public profile.
Onboarding answersYour selections about swimming frequency, goals, challenges, and stroke focus. Used to retain your responses and onboarding progress.Stored in local app preferences.
App preferencesDistance units, weekly distance goal, and onboarding completion state. Used to preserve your settings.Stored in local app preferences.
Weekly report snapshotsWorkout counts, total duration, distance, average pace, stroke distances, preceding-week comparison values, and the calendar, time zone, and week used for the report.Stored in an app-private file. The report list retains up to 12 snapshots, each of which may contain a preceding-week comparison.
Subscription informationApple StoreKit product, offer eligibility, verified transaction, and entitlement information. Used to show available plans, process and restore purchases, and determine Pro access.Handled through Apple's StoreKit services and in the App. The App does not transmit transactions to a developer-operated server.

The App requests Health read access for workouts, swimming distance, swimming stroke count, heart rate, and active energy burned. Its workout queries select swimming workouts and associated readings. It does not request permission to write Health data, and it does not edit or delete records in Apple Health.

The current App does not request your GPS location or workout routes, contacts, microphone, or camera. It does not read your full photo library. If you choose a profile image, Apple's photo picker gives the App access to the image you select. SwimPal resizes and re-encodes that image for local display; it does not perform facial recognition or send the image to us.

3. Health permissions and limits on use

Apple asks you to authorize access to supported Health data types. You control those choices and can decline individual types or revoke access later. SwimPal uses the authorized information only to provide its swimming and fitness features.

We do not sell Health data or use it for advertising, marketing, data brokerage, credit decisions, or insurance decisions. The App does not send Health data to advertisers, analytics providers, external AI providers, or other developers. We do not use your Health data to train AI models or conduct health research.

To change permissions, open Health > your profile > Apps or Apps and Services > SwimPal, or use the corresponding Health controls in iOS privacy settings. Names and paths can vary by iOS version.

If you deny or revoke a permission, dependent features may show limited or no data. Apple does not tell an app whether a specific Health read permission was denied; an empty result may also mean that no matching records are available. Buying Pro does not override your permissions or require you to grant them.

Revoking Health access stops future access to that data; it does not automatically erase reports already generated or information already loaded in the current app session. Saved reports can remain until replaced through the report retention process or removed by deleting the App's local data. They may also remain after the original workout is changed or deleted in Apple Health.

4. Information you send for support

If you email us, we receive your email address, the content of your message, and attachments or technical details that you choose to include. We use this information to respond, investigate the issue, provide support, and address privacy or legal requests. The App does not automatically attach your workouts, profile, reports, or diagnostic logs to an email.

Our support address uses Gmail, provided by Google. Email is processed by our and your email providers to deliver, store, and protect the correspondence. Google's handling of information is explained in the Google Privacy Policy.

Please send only what is necessary. Do not send Apple Account passwords, full payment card details, or unnecessary health records. If a screenshot contains health or other sensitive information, consider removing that information before sending it. You can ask us to delete support correspondence, subject to any legally required retention.

5. Apple services, other recipients, and disclosure

Apple

Apple operates Apple Health, Health permissions, the App Store, StoreKit payments, and Apple Account subscription management. Apple processes information for those services under its own terms and Privacy Policy.

Apple provides the App with information needed to verify a purchase and recognize subscription access. We do not receive your payment card number, bank details, or Apple Account password through the App. Apple retains its own purchase and subscription records.

Apple may separately collect diagnostics or provide developers with crash, usage, or sales reports under its settings and policies. Reports made available to us through Apple's developer tools are used for app maintenance, reliability, and business administration, not to profile your swimming activity for advertising. The App contains no separate analytics or crash-reporting integration.

Service providers

Apart from Apple platform services, the current App has no integrated external data-processing SDK. Google handles the support emails you choose to send. Any provider we authorize to process personal information on our behalf must be limited to the authorized purpose and provide protection at least equivalent to this Policy and applicable Apple requirements. This does not mean that Apple services or your own email provider are operated by us.

Legal requests

We may disclose information we actually hold, such as support correspondence, where legally required or reasonably necessary to address a legal claim or protect rights and safety, subject to applicable law. This does not give us remote access to the Health records, profile, images, or report files stored on your device.

External pages

When you open a legal page, Apple subscription page, or another external link, your browser and the destination provider may process connection information, such as an IP address, under the applicable website notice. This Policy describes the native App and our support handling; it does not describe every independent website or Apple service.

6. Local storage and device backups

Your personal profile is stored in a local SwiftData database. Preferences and weekly report snapshots are also stored locally on your device. Other workout information is loaded for local display and calculation. SwimPal does not operate a cloud account, developer-hosted workout backup, or CloudKit synchronization service. We do not keep a separate server copy of these local records.

Device backup is separate from app synchronization. In the current implementation, app files and preferences may be included in system-managed device backups, depending on your device settings and Apple's backup behavior. Turning off CloudKit synchronization does not by itself exclude files from device backups. Apple Health may also synchronize or back up its own records under your Apple settings, independently of SwimPal.

We cannot view or remotely remove your device backups. Manage backup copies using Apple's or your backup tool's controls. Restoring a backup may restore previously saved local app information.

7. Retention

  • Health source records: These remain in Apple Health under your control. SwimPal does not determine Apple's retention or delete those records.
  • Local profile, selected profile image, onboarding answers, and settings: These remain in the App's local storage until replaced by a saved edit where available or removed by deleting the App and its local data. Using iOS Delete App permanently removes them from that installation; we retain no server copy and cannot recover them for you. Replacing a profile image does not remove the original from your Photos library. Independently managed backup copies are addressed separately below.
  • Weekly reports: The App retains up to 12 weekly report snapshots. Older entries are removed when a new report list is successfully generated and saved. This is a count limit, not a promise that every report is erased after 12 calendar weeks. If you stop opening the App or new reports are not saved, existing snapshots can remain. A report can contain preceding-week comparison data as well as its own week's summary.
  • Purchase records: Apple retains its records under its policies. The App checks Pro access through StoreKit and does not maintain a developer-hosted purchase database.
  • Support correspondence: We retain messages for as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, resolve related issues, and meet applicable legal obligations. You may request earlier deletion. Information retained for a legal obligation or dispute is limited to that purpose and removed when it is no longer needed.
  • Backup copies: Copies may persist separately under your system or backup settings until you remove them or the backup provider expires them.

8. Your choices, deletion, and requests

You can:

  1. Control Health access using Apple's Health permissions, as explained above.
  2. Review or change your local profile under Account > Personal Details, and adjust distance units and weekly goals from Account. The current App does not have a dedicated button to erase all data or remove only a saved profile image.
  3. Permanently delete the App's local data from your device using Settings > General > iPhone Storage > SwimPal > Delete App, or the equivalent Delete App action on your device. This removes the personal profile and other data held by that installation. We retain no server copy and cannot restore the deleted local data. Offload App keeps documents and data and is not the same as deletion. Independently held backup copies must be managed separately; restoring a backup can restore data from that copy. On reinstall, the App can also read Health again if access is available or later granted, and generate new reports.
  4. Manage source workouts in Apple Health. Deleting SwimPal does not delete the source records in Health, and deleting a source record does not automatically erase an existing SwimPal report snapshot.
  5. Manage or cancel your Apple subscription separately. Deleting data or the App does not cancel a subscription. See Apple's cancellation instructions.
  6. Contact us about information we hold, including access, correction, or deletion of support correspondence, at xyhj000@gmail.com. Because we do not hold a server copy of your local app information, we cannot retrieve or remotely erase it; we can explain the device controls.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy of personal information, withdraw consent, and complain to a competent data protection authority. We will address requests within the period required by applicable law and may request proportionate information to verify the request. You will not be penalized for exercising a protected privacy right; features may nevertheless need data you choose not to provide.

9. Security

The App uses iOS app isolation and system access controls, including Apple's Health authorization controls. Local storage and backup protection depend in part on your device configuration and operating system. We do not claim that every local file has a separate layer of app-specific encryption or that any system is completely secure.

Protect your device with appropriate access controls and keep its software current. Email and external services have their own security characteristics. Avoid sending sensitive information that is unnecessary for support.

10. Children and family use

SwimPal is a general fitness app and is not designed specifically for children. It does not operate child accounts, public profiles, in-app messaging, advertising, or third-party analytics. Local profile and Health processing follow the same device-based approach described above, including when a parent or guardian supervises use.

A parent or guardian should decide whether the App and its fitness information are appropriate for a child, supervise use, and manage device permissions and purchases. Parental supervision does not replace any verifiable parental consent or other safeguard required by local law.

We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children through support email. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact xyhj000@gmail.com so we can assess and delete it where appropriate. Do not email us a child's health records unless an appropriate legal basis and any required consent are in place.

11. Processing locations

The App's local swimming analysis takes place on your device. If you send support email, the correspondence may be processed in countries where we or the email providers operate. Apple services, system backups, and external websites may also involve processing in other countries under the relevant provider's arrangements. Applicable data protection requirements continue to apply to information we handle.

12. Changes and contact

We will update this Policy when relevant practices change and revise the date above. Where required, we will provide an appropriate notice or obtain consent before a material change takes effect. A future server, analytics, sharing, or AI feature would require a fresh assessment and any necessary disclosures and permissions before personal information is used for that feature.
